question about buying land as a first-time buyer

Hi,

I am interested in purchasing a small plot of land, but this would be my first property purchase. I understand that there are first-time homebuyer credits (or something? programs of some sort?) available from the government.

My parents have advised me not to buy this land, because I may lose my first-time homebuyer benefits (are these even a thing?).

Two questions:

One, do these benefits apply to empty land, or just "homes"?

Two, is there any way to buy land "anonymously"? Like, if I own a business and plan on conducting some business activity there, can I buy through/from the business? Or what if I pay cash or get a private mortgage or something?

Or is it the very record of someone owning property that precludes them from using these first time homebuyer credits.
